Everywhere you look there are better, bigger, stronger, more prestigious advertisements that want you to buy their “things”. Every item and every service is now being upgraded at a constant rapid pace, why? Is it possible to just be satisfied with what we have, and not focus on the thought of what we don’t have?

I noticed that almost everyone, myself included, are never really satisfied. For example: I can remember when I just stepped into the working world and I was earning a mere $20,000 per year. “If only I could make $25,000 it would be so much easier to save.” Then I started making $30,000 and I was happy for such a short period of time. Then, the same thoughts started to happen. “If only I could make $35 000, or 40,000.” The truth is, would I be happy if I made even $45,000, or would I still want more? I am not sure, personally I believe there is a point in which you feel you earn enough of an income, but I haven’t reached that feeling yet.  Why can’t humans just be satisfied with what they have?

One might argue that if human’s reach a point of satisfaction, they will no longer grow. For example: if you are satisfied with your knowledge on a certain subject, you may no longer want to learn more. Contrast, if Humans are constantly not satisfied they will continue to grow and improve. The debate is tough, but in terms of financial aspects, I think it is important to be satisfied with what you have at the moment, and have a goal(s) for future success.

Currently; I don’t earn the best income but together with Giuliano we earn enough to be happy, healthy and save a great deal. We don’t live a fancy lifestyle, yet we have love, time together, and the ability to plan special dates and/or vacations.

I try to remember the following in my day to day life:

1. Remember where you came from, it is always important to remember your past, and the progress you have made.
2. Especially now, there are people who are in worse situations that you. Be satisfied with what you have financially.
3. Don’t compare yourself to others; only compare yourself to your past situation.
4. Always have goals in life, whether they are financial goals or other goals; such as going back to school, spending more time with family. Goals help you stay on track and reach success for you.
5. Enjoy the finer things in life; the beautiful nature on this planet, the amazing animals and spend time with your loved ones. Don’t get caught up in the superficial parts of life, you will definitely not reach a sense of satisfaction with the latest cell phone model.

Things that I enjoy doing that provide long term satisfaction:
                *Spending quality time with Giuliano
                *Spending quality time with Family
*Spending quality time with my cats
                *Reading
                *Travelling to unique places
                *Contributing to charity
*Being a good listener to a friend/family in need
                * Being active, from indoor to outdoor activities

The list can go on, but what do you do in your life to provide fulfillment or long term satisfaction??
